MEET LAUREN STARKEY

SAT BOOTCAMP FOUNDER

lauren starkey.jpg

I’m Lauren Starkey and I founded SAT Bootcamp in 2006 in response to the need for high-quality, affordable college test prep support in Vermont. I am the author of 21 books including Write Your Way into College, 2 volumes covering the SAT and college application essays. I have also written test prep for clients such as Kaplan and McGraw-Hill.

I began my career in publishing with the Oxford English Dictionary, where I worked for eight years as assistant to the Director of the American Reading Program. I wrote my first book in 2000, and have since written 20 more. I am a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and am listed in Who’s Who in American Writing.

In addition to teaching SAT test preparation courses, I served on the Board of Directors of the Green Mountain Montessori School, and was President of the St. Andrew’s Highland Dancers of Vermont from 2008-2011. I live in Vermont with my husband, youngest child, and faithful companion Ella. When I’m not working, you can find me hanging out with my family, gardening, listening to Sting or Melody Gardot, dreaming of Key West and Italy, cooking, or reading. My favorite books include All the Light We Cannot See, Ahab’s Wife, Evidence of Things Unseen, A Prayer for Owen Meany, and Elegance of the Hedgehog.
